Cookie Exchange
We are going to Heidi Tuttle's house this Saturday the 10th of December for this cookie exchange and we could not be more excited! Bring one dozen cookies to swap and share and this year we are going to be better at putting the recipes on the blog afterwards. This is one of the main reasons we do cooking club, to expand our recipe box. The second reason is to try new recipes and improve our cooking skills, girls, so go CRAZY and don't bring the "usual". I believe we decided the last time we would meet at April's house at 6:30 if you would like to carpool up to Heidi's house. She will be expecting us at 7. See you there!

Recipe Hack
This will be my first time hosting the Cooking Club at my house and I am so excited. I know you all have your favorite restaurant recipe that you are dying to share or dying to try. Or, if you don't have one, think of your favorite dish and look it up online, I am betting a copycat recipe is somewhere on the interweb.
We decided to switch things up this time and go for a Saturday night instead so October 8th, 7:00pm. That is three weeks away!
I will be making Carraba's famous Chicken Bryan. If you haven't tried it, it is to die for. I might make something else too but let's see what other ideas we get first.
If you need my address, please contact me or you can get it from April or Sarah or Jennie.

Favorites
So I know ya'll are probably sick of me hosting...but here it is anyway!
We are meeting our regular time of 7pm, second Friday which is September 9th.
My thoughts behind this themes is your favorite...whatever. Favorite food, favorite dessert, favorite take-out, favorite candy, favorite appetizer, favorite drink, etc. You get the point. I thought it might be fun to share some of our favorite things with each other and get to know each other better.
I would really like to make the chocolate cream pie that Charlotte taught me how to make. I can also come up with a main dish if no one has anything that is their favorite. I also don't think it would be bad if we just ate whatever people bring...

Veg
Ok here's the deal. We are scheduled or chose next week for the next one. I took it off April's hands because hosting is much better for her next month. Then I forgot I had told her I would take it. And for once in my life I feel like I have had a lot of girls' nights lately. So I ask you, is it too early? I'm not saying I can get enough, I am totally willing to have it this next week. But it seems we just had it. Do we stick with next Friday and not get off schedule? If so than I guess I better choose something.
I have a meat husband. No, not like a hunk, but he could eat meat, almost strictly with maybe some rolls, for every meal. It was an interesting lesson for us in India, a country that is predominantly vegetarian. Everything was veg or non veg, as they called it, and labeled as such (read more on my blog post here, and for source and explanation of the above picture). I didn't learn as much as I would have liked on how to eat deliciously on such a diet. So I come to you. Bring me your favorite dishes that don't include meat. I guess I am looking more for main dishes, because really, obviously I could eat salads etc.(which I love and can't wait until the lettuce comes in the garden as we eat a lot of it in the summer), but I have a hard time coming up with meals when I feel like we are meated out and need some ideas.
I also propose as this is a cooking club, that if you love what you are bringing and want to share it more than this one time with us, please bring a copy of your recipe!
My house, Friday, 7 pm.
Jennie: rolls and dessert.

Honey Honey
It's a honey extravaganza!Honey can be the main ingredient of your dish or it can be secretly hiding in the background. Here are some suggestions of things to sign up for:
Main Dish: Sarah
Appetizer:
Side: April (bread with honey butter or honey chicken wings)
Salad: Jennie
Dessert: Miranda (Baklava)
Drink:
Rule number 1 of Cooking Club, there is no such thing as "too much" food so if there is something else already coming and you want to bring it too, go for it. I can't wait to see what we all come up with!
Sarah Stamps house, May 13th at 7pm. Let me know if you need my address

Dips
Sorry ladies, I forgot I never posted on here for the up coming night. I believe last time we decided on Friday, April 8th (which you should all come as I even had to make a tough decision of skipping out of my beloved book club when it got switched to this same night). I was also unsure of the theme we should do. I have decided I want to try all your dips. -Heidi that delicious one you made at the baby shower. I will make a seven layer dip with tortilla chips.
7:00 Friday the 8th
7:00 Friday the 8th
April- homemade hummus with pita bread/pita chips or a spinach artichoke dip~ I can't decide right now...

Fry It Up, Baby!

So I know we're all health-conscious (at least I'm conscious of it - I just may not do it all the time), but let's lay aside our better judgment for one night and enjoy all things fried!
Whether you'd like to bring an old favorite, try something new, or just come to chat and not worry about bringing anything, we're meeting at my place on Friday, March 11, at 7pm. If you'd like to stake your claim on a dish, please do so (I'm doing vegetable tempura). My only request is that we don't cook fish or shrimp in the fryer as the smell and taste really transfer to the oil. We have a big 4-qt fryer to use - its highest temperature is 325 and we use peanut oil. Bring your dish as prepped as possible so we can spend as much time munching and chatting as we can!
April- spud nuts
Sarah- salad

Asian Night
I am very excited about this!!I have wanted to do an Asian themed night for about a year now.
So it is at my house at 7 pm Friday, February 11.
If you want to bring something to go with the theme, please do. If not, please still come! Consider it your girls night away from kids, stress-free, good food and good friends.
List of who is bringing what:
April- Vietnamese meatballs on rice
Sarah-Gyoza
Heidi- egg rolls
Miranda-vegetable tempura
Lisa- egg drop soup
As you may have noticed we have added a few new friends- Welcome Jennie Sleight, Lisa Lara, Miranda Duncan, Heidi Tuttle, and Martissa Spencer! If you want to add your name to the list of food being brought or change what you are bringing, let me know! I am not sure how to give our new friends administrator powers like we have... You can make a comment or send me an email.
